Quote

5. I thought Simms and Nantz were fine. I like them. But Manning's pass was so horrendous at such a huge moment that NOT calling him out for it just seemed strange. He had a chance to be immortal if the Colts won that game; instead, troublemakers like me get to make Manning Face jokes and point out that Manning lost seven career playoff games that were up for grabs in the fourth quarter. In fact:

Montana, playoffs: 16-7
Brady, playoffs: 14-4
Elway, playoffs: 14-8
Favre, playoffs: 13-11
Warner, playoffs: 9-4
Manning, playoffs: 9-9
Roethlisberger, playoffs: 8-2

So it was a classic "Sliding Doors" moment: If Manning comes through and Indy prevails, his résumé becomes impenetrable. But that pass prevented it from happening, and also, it might be the worst pass ever thrown in a big modern moment by a great quarterback not named "Favre." (Seriously, can you think of another one?) It's the distant cousin of Brady two Februarys ago: If the Giants don't score on the Tyree drive, Brady wins his fourth Super Bowl, clinches a 19-0 season and becomes immortal. Everything changed for him during that drive, and now, who knows? Same for Manning.

Shouldn't the Goat have a better record then 9-9 when it really matters? lulz Also being mentioned in the same sentence as "Favre" and "worst pass" is epic lulz.

Roethlisberger, playoffs: 8-2

80% success rate
highest win percentage of the bunch.
i'm not surprised.

Eh. Brady's not far behind with a .777 win%. With three rings to go with that record.. and he missed a season. I'm sure if Brady was the QB in '08 they would have gone to the playoffs. :yep: But that's over with. Manning is a joke.

Simmons column was spot on with everything he said today. :yep:

Or not. Trent Dilfer has a 5-1 playoff record. Thats a better playoff winning percentage than Brady. Any semi-intelligent football fan knows football is the ultimate team sport. A better question would be "Are the Colts even a playoff team without Manning?"

Bill Simmons

Peyton Manning is clutch. He's a champion. He's the heart of the Colts, and for all we know he's coaching them, too. You cannot wager against him, especially in night games. He's the most important player in football. Take Manning off the Colts and they disintegrate into dust. If that's not enough, he has proved to be a likable, engaging guy with a sense of humor. Damn it all. ~ Bill Simmons

:yep:

Very few teams, if any, rely on one player as much as the Colts do Peyton Manning.

The sky is falling the sky is falling!

Bill Simmons is more emotional than a high school cheerleader. The guy needs to seriously get a grip on his emotions. It's always so extreme with this guy. I know some of you enjoy the rantings of this emotional wreck, journalism be damned.

As seen by the fact that the only time the Colts won the Superbowl was when Manning had a dominate postseason performance of 3 TD's and 7 INT's and a amazing passer rating of just over 70. LOL

If you want to be the GOAT when your team relies on you so much....occasionally you should step up when it matters, and not fall flat on your face.

Are you disagreeing with me?

If so just go ahead and say that the Colts do not rely on Peyton Manning more than your average team relies on one player.

Thanks.

What? If you think the Colts win more than 7 games, in any of the past five years without Manning, you're on drugs. Some good ones at that.

Of course he doesn't think that.

Stupid comments, like the one's Steeler fans throw out, is due to years and years of sand building up in their vaginas.

Look, I've got no problems with people trolling me because the colts lost the SB, but please, atleast bring some sense.

They do rely on him. Unfortunately for the Colts tho he is a choker, and when you rely on a choker in the postseason you might have the most wins in a decade but only go 9-9 in the postseason LOL

If you think the Colts would have the same personal and scheme, and run the same game plan with another QB then you are on drugs. Peyton helps the Colts get into the playoffs every year, he also helps them exit the playoffs as seen by Porter running down the field pointing to the endzone.

Years and years of sand building? 2 Superbowl wins in the past 5 years do make fans bitter and angry. Since you wouldn't know, since the WTFOMGGOAT couldn't step up when it counted like Brees, just take my word for it.

did you know that 3td 7ints is still 50 QB rating points higher than 22.6?

If the Colts could win postseason games with Manning performing at an efficient 22.6 rating, we'd be 30-0 with 10 SUPIR BOLS.

LOLewlzzzzulzzzz :d
