4 Games To Watch: Week 3

After a one week Hiatus, I’m back to give you four more games to watch…

Buccaneers @ Bears
Griese vs. his old team, Orton vs. any team…truly a QB duel that no one gives a crap about.  This game is all about the defense, and all about the running games.  Rookie Matt Forte has looked real good in his first two games (has even had 2 TD’s “taken away from him”, as FB Jason McKie has gotten two goal line carries for touchdowns) and looks to build on that to prove he’s a force of a RB in this league.  Earnest Graham is averaging almost 9 yards per carry so far, and Warrick Dunn is an extremely nice compliment.  Chicago is ready for their home opener this year, and the Bears win, 23-13.

Panthers @ Vikings
One team has overachieved, the other has underachieved.  The Panthers have looked more-than impressive in their first two weeks winning on last second drives, while the Vikings have looked average at best.  Adrian Peterson is banged up, and Steve Smith is coming back.  There’s no way the Vikings can win this game, but I have a hunch, and I’ll take the Purple in a close one, 21-20.

Jaguars @ Colts
What a game this early in the season!  We’re talking a week 3 game that could ultimately provide this year’s AFC-S champion!  The Colts Run Defense has been bad, and losing Bob Sanders for a few weeks isn’t going to help.  The Jaguars running game has been worse, but can they seriously stay as bad as they’ve been?  I think so.  P. Manning gets back on track, and the Colts “upset” the Jags, 31-20.

Bengals @ Giants
The Bengals are close to being the worst team in football.  Talent-wise, this isn’t possible, but this team is in total disarray.  The Super Bowl Champion Giants have looked good, and they’re the home team.  Surely Carson Palmer isn’t going to outplay Eli, is he?  Of course not.  Giants win a slightly-closer-than-it-should-be game, 27-21.

Why I Love Sports

“I always turn to the sports pages first, which records people’s accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man’s failures” - Chief Justice Earl Warren.

Sports. For many (including myself) they can be the determining factor in how our day goes. If the Steelers lose, stay clear of me for a good 1-2 hours or risk having your head ripped off. In many cases us as fans take winning and losing harder than the players on the actual team. Non-sports fans just don’t understand why we sports fans take a “game” so seriously. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea why we take them so serious, we just do. There aremuch more important things in life. Yet, sports are important. They are a uniting factor in a world sorely lacking of them. Over the weekend, I have the privilege to go to Yankee Stadium for the first time for Yanks-Sox. Continue Reading »

Feels Good to be Back.

For those who may not remember me, my name is BigBensBestFriend, or for those who would hate to type all of that BBBF. I was a regular poster back in the “Football Refuge” days. I remember coming here when someone posted the link to the fuge’ site on espn, to come to this “new site” that was about sports not all the racism and stupid commenting that takes place on espn (I guess that was a lie, but its still not as bad here). Upon coming to the fuge’ I immediately became good friends (online friends at least) with a number of posters including DaRaider, 6 one 9, Skins, Gabe, and yes the ultimate antagonist, CnI. Like everyone else, I am still waiting on Any to leave her family and move to Pittsburgh to live with me and become a Steelers fan…….but she has yet to accept my proposal. Due to job changes, I no longer was able to post regularly though I would occasionally log in to see what was going on around here. Continue Reading »
