The History of Sports Refuge

In April of 2005, we finally had enough of the ESPN NFL General message board and decided to strike out on our own and seek refuge from the trolls. Some laughed and mocked us, knowing that others had set out on the same journey in the past and failed. We brushed off the naysayers, and On April 18, 2005, Football Refuge was born. That first day 44 members registered and we haven't looked back.

  
Football Refuge was our home for 16 months and we have many great memories from our time there. As our membership grew, we wanted the opportunity to offer our members more freedom and variety. The decision to upgrade our forum was made, and on August 4, 2007, Sports Refuge went live. It was a risky move, asking all our members to re-register and start over. Fortunately, most took the leap of faith and SR has taken root.

Today we have members from all over the globe (well, at least Estonia, Brazil, Australia and Canada.) We are a diverse group, but we share a common love of sports. While sports bind us, our discussions cover every topic possible, and sometimes no topic at all.

Join us. Give the Fuge a shot. Laugh along with the newb hazing. Learn the lay of the land. Soon you'll get the inside jokes and will be hunting for skuzzy minkeys and hiding your teddy bears from Tubbie, and all will be well with the world.
